About the Role

DoorDash is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Consumer Fraud team. This team is responsible for developing fraud-related experiences, fraud detections, and verification flows. You will be instrumental in:

  • Enhancing Customer Trust: Delivering a premium experience to our customers while protecting their interactions transparently on the marketplace. 
  • Combating Fraud: Fostering positive behaviors within our community and ensuring all users understand the significant impact of their actions on our ecosystem.
  • Streamlining Customer Interactions: Guaranteeing that any challenges our customers face are resolved smoothly and efficiently.
  • Developing Scalable Solutions: Crafting versatile, plug-and-play solutions that empower both our internal teams and non-engineering partners to effectively pinpoint, evaluate, and counteract fraud. Leveraging machine learning models and generative AI solutions that enable intelligent signal analysis, rapid anti-fraud response, and fraud review automations. 

As an Engineering Manager, you will partner closely with Product, Design, Analysts and Operations partners to define the roadmap to build anti-fraud mechanisms with minimal UX friction. You will manage a team of backend engineers to build advanced fraud prevention solutions and solve challenging technical problems.

  • Oversee the hiring process for your team, in partnership with recruiting, to grow a diverse and inclusive team

  • BS, M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in people management leading backend teams
  • 8+ years of industry experience
  • Extensive experience as an engineer in a fast-paced, product-focused development environment
  • Experience with distributed system design, system scaling, and performance optimization
  • Hands-on leadership and strong product intuition
  • Humility - willing to get into the details and open to feedback
  • Growth mindset - you're eager to expand your skill set and excited to carve out your career path in a hyper-growth setting
  • Adaptability, resiliency, and ability to thrive in ambiguity - things can change quickly, and you'll need to help the team evolve

Compensation

The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.  Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.

In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.

The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest geographical market up to our highest geographical market within California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Hawaii, New Jersey, New York and Washington.
